The China–Laos Railway handles an average of over 1,500 tons per day of fresh and live cargo imports and exports.

This newspaper reports. (Reporter Li Chenghan, Correspondent Zhang Weiming) In May, with a surge in the availability of Southeast Asian fruits, the Mohan Railway Port saw a peak in the volume of fruit and vegetable imports and exports, with daily throughput consistently exceeding 1,500 tons. Since the beginning of this year, the China–Laos Railway has handled 64,000 tons of fresh and perishable goods, more than doubling compared with the same period last year, including 58,000 tons of imported fruit.

The head of the Dispatch Center at Kunming East Station, under the China Railway Kunming Bureau, stated… To meet the logistics needs of perishable fruits such as durian and mangosteen, the railway authorities have mobilized more than 1,000 refrigerated containers and prioritized capacity allocation. Thanks to the specially operated “Lancang–Mekong Express” international freight train on the China–Laos Railway, the journey from Kunming, China, to Vientiane, Laos, takes just 26 hours.

The railway authorities are stepping up… The “Lancang–Mekong Express” cold-chain freight train service has increased its frequency, with the average daily number of trains rising from 1.5 to 3, and reaching up to 4 during peak periods. At the same time, cooperation mechanisms with customs, border inspection, and other relevant authorities have been continuously refined, further streamlining inspection procedures and enhancing clearance efficiency.

Data shows From January to April, the China–Laos Railway transported a cumulative 6.55 million tons of cargo, up 14.9% year on year, with cross-border freight exceeding 1.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.1%.
