On March 22, the “2025 Symposium on New Automation Technologies for Sugar‑Manufacturing Enterprises,” hosted by the China Sugar Industry Association and organized by the Yunnan Provincial Sugar Industry Association, with co‑sponsorship from Kunming Kelin Light Industrial Machinery Co., Ltd. and Menglian Changyu Sugar Industry Co., Ltd., was grandly held in Menglian, Yunnan. With the theme “New‑Type Productive Forces Empowering the Upgrading of the Sugar Industry,” the conference focused on cutting‑edge technological advances such as automated sugar boiling and automated evaporation, while delving into pathways for the industry’s transformation toward high‑end production, intelligent operations, and green practices. Representatives from the China Sugar Industry Association, the Yunnan Provincial Sugar Industry Association, the Guangxi Sugar Industry Association, the Guangdong Sugar Industry Association, the Inner Mongolia Sugar Industry Association, along with executives from major sugar enterprises, technical experts, and other industry stakeholders, attended the event to jointly chart a new roadmap for the sector’s development.
At the conference, experts engaged in an in-depth discussion on the core aspects of new automated technologies for sugar‑mill boiling and refining. Participants debated key issues such as the initial capital investment versus long-term benefits of automation equipment, strategies for addressing the shortage of technical talent, and measures to ensure the stable operation of automated systems, while also sharing valuable insights drawn from real‑world case studies from their respective enterprises.
At the conference, Liu Changzhan, Chairman of Keling Light Industry, stated that, as a critical link in the sugar‑making industry, achieving breakthroughs in the automation of the boiling and refining process has become a key lever for enhancing quality and boosting efficiency across the sector. During his inspection tour of Yunnan on the 19th and 20th, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the need to vigorously promote high-quality development. How to harness new‑type productive forces to inject strong momentum into the high‑quality development of China’s sugar industry will become a key priority for the sector’s future growth. Keling Light Industry’s independently developed technologies—automatic evaporation, automated sugar boiling, and continuous sugar cooking—have been successfully deployed in numerous technical upgrade projects at sugar mills both domestically and internationally. These innovations aim to enhance quality and efficiency through cutting‑edge technology, superior performance, and high standards, helping sugar mills break away from traditional growth models and development paths, and steadily advancing China’s sugar industry toward higher value‑added, intelligent, and environmentally sustainable practices.
