    On Tuesday, August 17, at 9:00 a.m., the launch ceremony for waste sorting and the promotion of a civilized lifestyle—featuring on-site treatment of food waste—was held at the Shangheyuan Market in Fumin County. The event was attended by more than 50 participants, including the leadership team of Kunming Kelin Light Industry Machinery Co., Ltd., representatives from the company, and key leaders and officials from Fumin County. Wang Xiujiang, Secretary of the Fumin County Party Committee, and Liu Changzhan, Chairman of Kunming Kelin Light Industry Machinery Co., Ltd., delivered remarks. Following the ceremony, attendees visited the Shangheyuan Market’s facility for the harmless treatment of food waste.

    To support the upcoming COP15 and enhance the reduction and resource recovery of food waste, Kunming City has selected a group of food‑waste‑treatment equipment manufacturers nationwide to conduct a pilot program for on‑site processing of food waste—a first of its kind in China. Chairman Liu Changzhan emphasized that the microbial‑technology solutions deployed in this Fumin County on‑site food‑waste‑treatment project are those that Keling Light Industry has vigorously promoted and implemented in recent years. Keling Light Industry’s bio‑based organic waste‑treatment system can systematically advance the reduction, resource recovery, and environmentally safe treatment of food waste, while also fostering an eco‑friendly industrial model—thereby helping Fumin County implement waste sorting, promote a civilized lifestyle, and carry out on‑site food‑waste‑treatment initiatives.

Since 2008, Kelin Light Industry has been engaged in the development and manufacturing of environmental protection equipment for the sugar industry. In 2015, it began applying the AciduloCompost microbial strain to environmental remediation in the sugar sector and, in collaboration with international research institutions, extended its use to the decomposition of organic waste. In 2019, seizing market opportunities, the company shifted its focus to bio‑based organic waste treatment. Through years of practical application and R&D, Kunming Kelin Light Industry Machinery Co., Ltd. has developed a comprehensive suite of bio‑processing systems and equipment capable of handling daily volumes ranging from 2 kg to 10,000 kg of organic waste, demonstrating stable performance in the “Kunming Municipal Pilot Project for Decentralized On‑Site Treatment of Kitchen Waste: Resource Recovery (Organic Fertilizer)” initiative.
In the practical application of biological treatment for organic waste, the AciduloCompost microbial strain can reduce waste volume by up to 90%, while the remaining approximately 10% yields a product with exceptionally high fertilizing efficacy. Moreover, the decomposition process generates very little volatile ammonia, virtually eliminating irritating odors. Additionally, the AciduloCompost substrate is acidic (pH 4.0–6.0) and resistant to high temperatures (up to 100°C), effectively inhibiting or eliminating the numerous bacteria and viruses present in food waste during decomposition. Emissions comply with regulatory standards, and the residual material meets the criteria for organic fertilizer additives. With these distinct technical advantages, the system fully aligns with the national policy of “reduction, harmlessness, and resource recovery” for food waste management, producing environmentally friendly outputs that are both recyclable and reusable.

       Chairman Liu Changzhan stated that the initiative to promote waste sorting and on-site treatment of food waste in Fumin County not only aligns with the county’s long-term goal of building itself into a “mountain-and-water garden‑style satellite city and Kunming’s most beautiful backyard,” but also provides strong support for jointly advancing Fumin’s efforts to achieve new‑type industrialization, urbanization, informatization, agricultural modernization, and green development. At the same time, Fumin County has become a pioneering model county nationwide, leading the way in implementing on-site waste sorting and treatment at the county level.
This event will undoubtedly propel Fumin County’s county-wide transformation and development, forging a new path characterized by higher quality, greater efficiency, an optimized structure, and the full realization of its comparative advantages. It will position Fumin County’s urban center as a functional extension zone of Kunming’s main city—boasting industrial agglomeration, mutual support with Kunming’s core urban area, and complementary functions; a model for green development; a suburban leisure and health‑care hub; and a modern, riverside, pastoral, and livable new city, thereby enabling the people to enjoy a richer, more tangible sense of fulfillment and happiness.
