RCEP, or the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, was initiated by ASEAN in 2012 and took eight years to negotiate. It is an agreement concluded by 15 member economies, including China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and the ten ASEAN member states. As the world’s largest free trade area to date, RCEP officially entered into force on January 1, 2022. RCEP is a high-standard free trade agreement that integrates liberalization of trade in goods, trade in services, and investment. In the area of trade in goods, member countries have committed to achieving free flow of 90% of goods among them with zero tariffs within ten years. RCEP has significantly reduced trade and investment costs for all participating economies, with the number of tariff‑free products in trade in goods exceeding 90% overall, reflecting its comprehensive, modern, high‑quality, and mutually beneficial nature.

To deepen understanding of RCEP-related knowledge and better adapt to the evolving economic landscape, the company organized relevant personnel from six departments—Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, the Technology Center, and Procurement—to attend the thematic session of the first “National RCEP Online Specialized Training Series,” hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and primarily aimed at enterprises, held on April 11.

This training covers an overview of the RCEP and its key provisions, an in-depth analysis of RCEP rules on trade in goods and market access commitments, an examination of RCEP rules of origin and practical procedures for benefiting from preferential treatment, as well as the opportunities, challenges, and policy recommendations facing relevant sectors in China.

Through this training, all participants from various departments gained significant insights, deepened their understanding of the RCEP, and enhanced their ability to comprehend and leverage relevant policies and preferential measures. Moving forward, they will continue to explore and experiment in their work, thereby contributing to the company’s foreign trade development.
