　　On April 20, 2022, a delegation comprising Wang Zhong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress; Zhao Zhide, Deputy Director of the Municipal Urban Management Bureau; and Zhao Wei, Executive Director of Chengtou Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., among other leaders, paid a visit to the decentralized kitchen waste treatment facility operated by Kelin Light Industry in Milan Garden, Chenggong District, for an inspection and research tour.

　　Liu Wenrui, manager of Kelin Light Industry Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., briefed Deputy Director Wang Zhong and his delegation on the basic details of the Milan Garden organic waste harmless treatment project in Kunming’s Chenggong District. The facility primarily processes food waste from residential communities surrounding Chenggong District, with a daily processing capacity of 2 tonnes. The Kelin Light Industry bio‑treatment unit installed at this site was commissioned at the end of July 2021 and put into operation in August; to date, it has been running smoothly for nine months, effectively achieving the objectives of rendering local kitchen waste harmless, reducing its volume, and recovering resources.

　　Since 2020, Kelin Light Industry has continuously adjusted its business strategy to adapt to market changes, independently developing a series of bio‑treatment systems that transform organic waste and food‑service waste into valuable resources while ensuring their harmless disposal and significant volume reduction. The treated waste is reduced by 90% and can be used as organic fertilizer for crop cultivation, returning it to the soil. Kelin Light Industry’s bio‑treatment technology not only fills a domestic technological gap and delivers substantial social and economic benefits but also contributes to ecological and environmental protection.

　　Looking ahead, Keling Light Industry will prioritize the widespread adoption of bio‑based technologies for organic waste treatment, in tandem with efforts to advance municipal waste sorting and disposal, thereby helping Yunnan Province become a national model for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
