At the end of 1970, I was transferred to Kunming Light Industry Machinery Factory. I remember that the factory was still under construction when I first arrived. The factory area was a few rows of cattle and sheep left over from the previous farm, and it was filled with early workers. My wife and I lived in a small attic of a farmer’s house in Puji. The downstairs is a pig’s nest and the attic is a wooden structure. Although it was Spring City, it was still quite cold when the cold wind blew in through the cracks in the wooden planks. We often wrapped our quilts tightly and fell asleep in the hum of the pigs downstairs.
The factory is invested and constructed by the Ministry of Light Industry and is directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Light Industry. It is designed in accordance with the mode of producing paper machines, and most of the old employees transferred through the Ministry of Light Industry in the early stage are also from the paper machine system in the north. After the factory was built, it was put under the management of the planned economy, and the higher-level competent department arranged and assigned production tasks. It has produced general machinery, tobacco machinery, packaging machinery, and so on.
In the early 1970s, receiving instructions from the Ministry of Light Industry, the factory sent a technical team to Guangdong to study and obtain technical materials for sugar machines. I was working in the technical team of the metalworking workshop and became a member of this team. I remember that the leader of the team was Mr. Tang, who had worked in the Light Industry Department. He was the only technician with the title of engineer in the whole factory and the chief technical officer of the whole factory. At that time, no one had systematic contact with sugar machine equipment, and they were not familiar with sugar machines. I come from a national defense research unit, and I don't know anything about sugar machines. We went to "learn the classics" in the spirit of humbly learning.
From a historical perspective, in the early years, China’s sugarcane production areas were mainly in Guangdong (then Guangxi and Yunnan), large-scale sugar factories and advanced sugar production technology were located in Guangdong, and advanced equipment research, design, and manufacturing technologies were also located in Guangdong (later we On business trips to some sugar factories in Yunnan prefectures and counties, I also met old Cantonese technicians. It is said that in the early years, Guangdong technicians were more common in Yunnan sugar factories). During my trip to Guangdong, I visited Guangdong Light Machinery Factory and Jiangmen Chemical Factory. I also visited a 500T sugar factory in Jiangmen. Unfortunately, before the squeezing season, the factory is in a state of suspension for maintenance.
。At that time, there were no issues of "intellectual property rights" and "technical confidentiality". Everyone is a subordinate enterprise with instructions from the Ministry of Light Industry, the other party is very straightforward. The design drawings and materials are just printed as needed, and we can pack them away after we count them and accept them. What is more difficult to handle is the process documents, because they are all handwritten and cannot be solved by printing pictures. At that time, photocopying technology was very rare, and the factory had no photocopiers at all. The mature process documents are not only the material quota, production method and process flow, but also the experience accumulation and lesson summary of the other party's repeated production. Of course, we cherish it very much and consume a lot of time and energy to copy by hand.
Considering that we need to organize and guide the processing and production after returning to the factory, several of us from the workshop pay more attention to the actual situation on the spot. In addition to visiting with everyone to listen to each other's introduction and exchange answers, we often use the work gap and lunch break to go to the workshop site. Watch the processing of key parts. What impressed me so far is that in Jiangmen Chemical Plant, I saw people using small bullhead planers to process large machinery, and I was very inspired at that time. Their specific method is to add a moving device at the bottom of the bed, remove the workbench of the bullhead planer, dig a big hole before the bullhead planer, and hoist the frame into it, so that the surface to be processed on the frame just falls on the bullhead planer activity Within the range, after being fixed, it is processed by the reciprocating movement of the bull's head back and forth and the lateral movement of the bed. When watching the bridge crane hoist the 500-ton/day press frame, swaying and transporting it to the front of the bull's head planer, and falling into the big pit, I can’t help feeling nervous, and my mood follows the transportation of the frame. The ups and downs didn't settle until the rack was hoisted. This method of processing large parts with a small machine tool was called "ant chewing bones" at that time. In addition, at Guangdong Light Machinery Factory, people saw people refitting ordinary gantry planes into simple gantry milling machines, and they were milling the press rolls. The live state of her herringbone pattern is also very inspired.
At that time, Guangdong was dominated by sugar factories with a capacity of 500T, and few of them were more than 1,000T. Yunnan was located in the plateau mountainous area on the southwestern edge. There were small dams between the high mountains and ridges, which were considered flat. Although the sugarcane was abundant, it was relatively scattered. In addition to the Kaiyuan Sugar Factory (800T), there are not many 500T factories, and they are generally small factories of 200T-300T. We discussed in the return trip that we brought back the technical data of the 500T sugar factory. Is it suitable for the general situation in Yunnan ? At the report meeting after returning to the factory, Mr. Tang reported the harvest on behalf of everyone, and he bluntly expressed the above concerns. In retrospect, this cognition was too backward. The main reason for the small sugar factory in Yunnan at that time was not insufficient sugar source and insufficient transportation capacity, but backward equipment and technology.
Since then, we have devoted ourselves to the trial production of sugar machines. Although the information is ready, the actual situation of the sugar factory is not the same. What's more, we are all just getting started, and there have been many problems before and after the trial production. Everyone used their brains to think of a solution. Work overtime to overcome difficulties gradually, and finally make the finished products go out of the factory smoothly.
In the years to come, many comrades went back and forth between the factory and the sugar factory many times to assist in installation and debugging, and deal with various problems left over from manufacturing and assembly. The tense start-up time of the sugar factory cannot be delayed for a moment. The maintenance and maintenance stoppage time of the equipment in continuous operation is short and regular, and usually cannot be shut down casually. However, most sugar machines are made on a single machine. In addition to full-time inspectors, the quality control must also rely on the level, experience and sense of responsibility of the personnel involved in design, craftsmanship, production, and assembly from beginning to end. The finished products that have left the factory will inevitably still have some problems, especially at the beginning of the implementation of the working-hour wage system, the problems are more obvious. Our on-site service personnel often listen to the complaints and urges of users, while doing their best to repair, supplement and perfect the deficiencies and deficiencies of the products. Sometimes it is necessary to urgently return to the factory to reprocess parts and components, the ups and downs of which can be expressed in non-verbal terms, and it is difficult for non-parties to understand.
After the 1980s, the market economy gradually replaced the planned economy. After continuous exploration, experimentation, analysis and research, the factory leaders gradually determined the sugar machine as the main development direction of the factory. At this time, the production of sugar machines with a scale of 1000T and above began. Generally during this period, the information brought by foreign businessmen entering the mainland is: The scale of advanced overseas sugar factories has reached 5000T-6000T or even 8000T, and some of them have even larger ones. Sugar factories below 1000T have been dubbed "children's toy sugar factories". In addition to the well-known "scale effect", sugar plants are building bigger and bigger. Another important reason is that sugarcane must be recovered and processed in time when the sugar content is the highest in the mature period in order to obtain the greatest benefits. The squeezing period of advanced foreign sugar factories has been shortened to 80 days, while in China it generally exceeds 100 days.
Our country's early reform and opening policy promoted the rapid economic development of the Pearl River Delta region, and the rapid decline of sugarcane planting has made the "East Sugar Move to the West" an inevitable trend. The leading group of Kunming Light Machinery Plant represented by Comrade Yang Xuezhong clearly recognizes the situation and conforms to the trend, uses brand-new concepts to focus on marketing, production, and technology, and expands its vision from Yunnan to the whole country, and proposes that the main battlefield is located in the far bottom of the economic position. In Guangdong, the natural and geographical conditions for planting sugarcane are much better than that of Guangxi in Yunnan, and the products are continuously sold to Guangxi. Later, it expanded its horizons and became the first mainland manufacturer to export sugar machines to Southeast Asia (Vietnam) after the reform and opening up.
After the factory was transformed into a shareholding system, young entrepreneurs stepped onto the stage of history, "blue is better than blue". They look at the supply and demand status and prospects of the overseas sugar industry, dominate the level and development of the world's sugar manufacturing equipment, and concentrate more on the equipment manufacturing of the cane sugar factory. They pay close attention to total quality management, pay attention to the introduction of talents, and purchase advanced equipment. , In just over ten years, the company has made rapid progress and achieved remarkable results.
A few years ago, our old comrades who had retired for many years were invited back to the company to participate in an event. The workshop was producing equipment for the 10,000T sugar factory. Standing in front of the rack, looking up at the tall and solid 10,000-ton press rack, I had a few in my mind. I feel joy and awe. I think about the mood when I saw the 500T press frame for the first time in Guangdong many years ago. I recall the tortuous development of the factory for decades and the hard work and hard work of several generations. The heart is ups and downs, and there are many emotions.
When the new plant was completed, Chairman Liu Changzhan and several other young company leaders accompanied us on the tour. The new plant has a wide space, spacious and bright, fully equipped, properly arranged, neat and clean. At this time, many historical pictures appeared in my mind one after another, and the historical process since the establishment of the factory was suddenly condensed before our eyes. There is a world of difference between the present and the past. As far as talents are concerned, from only one engineer at the beginning of the establishment of the factory to now there are many talents and high-level personnel; as far as the scope of ability is concerned, from processing small parts to processing small sugar machines according to drawings, to complete equipment design, manufacturing and installation Commissioning of large-scale sugar factory process equipment; as far as equipment is concerned, there are already multiple computer-controlled processing centers and electric furnace steelmaking...; as far as the market is concerned, it has expanded from covering one province and one country to Asia, Africa, and Oceania , Latin America's global market. What's more worth mentioning is that the number of people on duty today is only one-third of that of the factory's heyday, but the output value is several times that of the time, and profits and taxes have also increased simultaneously.
Standing on the top of the high mountain in the new factory area, with a broad vision and a relaxed and happy heart, I suddenly remembered an ancient poem "Everything turns smaller when you standing high".
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Light Machinery Plant in Kunming. The company moves forward like a boat against the current, and if it does not advance, it retreats, and the road ahead is endless. I hope that all employees, under the leadership of the company’s party committee and the board of directors, will guard against arrogance and rashness, make persistent efforts, challenge themselves, make unremitting efforts, and move on.
